Sally Hansen's wax hair remover for face is what I use about once a month. You microwave the jar for about 3 minutes on high the first time, less each time your use of the wax makes the microwave time needed shorter. The instructions for a full jar are inaccurate and over cautious. A little spatula reads READY unless its too hot. When its not too hot you apply it and leave it on a minute or so and pull it off. If you pull it off too soon or too late, it won't work but it won't wreck your skin. You do one patch at a time. I have very sensitive skin and I hate the lingering smell of some hair removers. This is the most satisfactory product I have used.

There isn't a simple answer. Almost all methods of removing facial hair also damage the skin -- skin is very similar in compositon to hair, so what is strong enough to destroy hair is very likely to damage skin.

Facial hair on girls comes about in the same way as on boys because of

1) your body being sensitized, before you were even born, to testosterone -- doesn't happen to all girls, but does to many

2) your body producing high levels of testosterone

The growth rate and coarseness of the hair depends on just how much testosterone is circulating in your bloodstream.

As far as removing it is concerned it's worth remembering that

* Waxing, plucking, threading, epilating all pull the hair out by the roots and where the growth is hormonally-driven can actually stimulate a dormant follicle into producing more hair quicker. They also distort the root if done repeatedly, leading to hair growing at strange angles. And you've got to let the hair grow to quite a length before you can repeat the exercise. It can also damage the skin and discolor it. Long-term it causes bad wrinkles.

* Chemical depilatories strong enough to remove the hair are very likely to burn the skin, cause swelling and cause long-term discoloration of the skin.

* Laser is also liable to cause burning and discoloration and only works well with dark hair and light skin.

* Electrolysis is very liable to cause scarring and discoloration of the skin.

Which, like it or not, leaves shaving which does not damage the skin. Best done with a men's-style electric razor, the best of which, for women, are probably those from the men's range of Norelco razors (Philishave outside the US).

For everything BUT eyebrows I use a Finishing Touch. It's a little pen shaped battery operated hair remover. It works like a dream and hasn't caused the hair to grow any faster. It's also cheap %26amp; the only further expense is batteries. I have very dark Latina facial hair.

Do NOT use it on eyebrows - it doesn't work well there %26amp; besides, I cut my eyelashes down to zip once w/it.

Depending on what type of facial cream your using your face could be very sensitive to it. Therefore you most likely need to buy something that works for sensitive skin or go to a salon and get it waxed.
